Something very exciting is on the horizon and I'm trying so hard not to type this title in All Caps.

It involves money. For air-tickets. It involves long squishy hugs - long-awaited squishy hugs. It involves laughter and handsqueezing and little sleep. I WON'T MAKE YOU GUESS. (And seriously, if you haven't guessed right now... I mean...) WELL. LET'S JUST MAKE IT OFFICIAL:

EMMA AND I ARE GOING TO MEET IN PERSON.

*freaks out* I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS FINALLY GOING TO HAPPEN. AND I CAN'T STOP USING CAPS LOCK. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I'm so so ridiculously excited I can't stand it. Emma and I are going to meet in person. Emma and I are going to meet in person. Emma and I are going to meet. MEEET. MEEEEEEEEEEEEET. (I've seriously been saying this over and over to myself in my brain. It hasn't sunk in quite yet.)

I will be going to America - which is GOING TO BE SCARY AND CRAZY AND FANTASTIC (I've never taken the plane before in my recollection + gone out of Europe) -, we will meet in June, and will be in each other's swell company for three weeks. (Not enough, but hey, we can't complain. AND JUNE WILL BE HERE SOONER THAN WE THINK. *turns off caps lock for a few sentences to show that I have manners.*)

Please tell us one thing you think we should do together. (Not that we haven't got our own list of ideas, ha. We literally have so many things planned. We're watching about 5 months worth of movies.)

Let's just praise the Lord for this, 'kay? Because our prayers truly have been answered much sooner than we dared hope three weeks ago. (And we'd like to thank our wonderful parents for their support in this. You guys should go on a double date.)

SQUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. PS. This post is very unladylike, but duh. Who cares about that at a time like THIS?!!!

PSS. (In case you're a new reader and wondering what on earth I'm talking about, Emma is my very best friend who I met through blogging 2-and-something-years-ago. You should know this.)

  1. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT.

    NAOMI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU'RE ACTUALLY VISITING EMMA AND I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING AND I'M GOING TO DIE. LIKE, REALLY.

No, seriously. I'm so happy for you!!!!! This is beautiful news--I know you're going to have an amazing, wonderful, fantastic time, and I can't wait to hear ALL about it!!! :-) (You'll like America, too. At least, I hope you will. Pretty swell place, most of the time.)

Also, congratulations to my seriously-genuinely-brilliant sister, Rosie McCann, who guessed what your "exciting news" was the MINUTE she saw your Google+ post yesterday. That girl doesn't miss much, folks, let me tell you :-)

    Let me see . . . one thing I think you should do together . . .

Gosh. There's so much. Hard to pick just ONE thing.

Ummmmmmmmmmm . . . how about going berry-picking? If you have a place to pick berries that's near enough where you live? Because berry-picking is one of the most fantastic summer activities, ever, period. Also, I would imagine it's not something you get to do very easily where you live, in Belgium, 'cause it doesn't sound like you live in the country, and I know Emma does.

And . . . y'all probably don't need another movie to watch BUT I'm gonna suggest "October Sky" anyways. Because it's beautiful and I think you would rather like Homer Hickam. (I already know Emma does ;-) )

    1. I KNOW. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT EITHER!!!!! :-O :-D (I SERIOUSLY CAN'T STOP SMILING.) Hahahaha, I thought Rosie had guessed it. Good for her. :-)

Well, we'll definitely go Strawberry picking - that's what Emma's farm sells around June. So we'll take you on that advice, dear. :-) (And I'll add October Sky to the long list. Hehehehe.)

    2. If you watch October Sky, pay special attention to the accents, because they're adorable. Also pay attention to the mountain scenery, because it's fantastic (AND I've seen it in real life and it's just as pretty in real life).

  2. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I'M SOOO EXCITED FOR YOU!!!! HOW ENTIRELY AND INCREDIBLY AMAZING!!!!! :D And guess what?!?!?!? This very weekend, I'm in the middle of planning a first time ever visit to one of my bestest blogging friends, too (to happen at the end of May, Lord willing), so I can TOTALLY identify with the exhilaration. ;)

  4. Oh, NAOMI!! This is FANTASTIC!! And I don't mind you using all caps, because seriously, how else can you express how exciting this is without caps? GAHHHH!! You girls are going to have so much fun together!! :D

Aww. God is so good, isn't He? :) He brought you together as friends through blogging, and now He's bringing you together in person...and much sooner than you ever expected! This is just AWESOME! I'm SO happy for you!! REALLY, REALLY HAPPY!!! :D

  5. How exciting! Are you going by yourself? I've flown by myself, and I've flown internationally, but I have never combined both in the same trip. That will be an adventure in and of itself. :)

As for something to do, this may be a completely pointless suggestion not knowing where Emma lives, but if at all possibly I would go to the beach. Again, I realize that this might be a silly suggestion. I live within an hour of the beach, and so sometimes forget that most of the country does not have that privilege. :) Otherwise, I would suggest visiting some historical landmark/place/museum. Something of that sort.

    1. Yep, I'll be flying all by myself. :-) Lets pray it'll go well. :-D

Ohhh, Emma lives pretty close to a big lake, so we might be able to go there one day during my visit. (I really want to have a picture of us reenacting the picture in this post. :-P)

    2. Sarah, I really hope we can go to some sort of historical place/museum! We have a few of those kinds of things around here. Naomi will have to put up with my obsessive history fascination. ;-P

  8. I just can't stop smiling, this is so GREAT that you get to see each other!!! What a dream come true! SO happy for you! Perhaps you can braid your hair together and take a picture; that's a very friend-like thing to do!

  9. Oh my goodness! You are so lucky!

I actually got to meet a pen-pal a few weeks ago who I'd been writing to for 4 and a half years. It was very fun. :) My family spent the night at her family's house and ate birthday cake(we share a birthday that was coming up) and talked about books and did tourist-y things in the morning. :D So yeah, it's awesome.

And for things to do together, you should pull off at least one all-nighter. At least. ;)

Are you nervous about flying for the first time??

Seriously, this is very cool. CONGRATULATIONS. :D

  10. OH MY WORD, NAOMI!!!! I am so happy for you!! And oh my, you're going to fly over all that ocean. But you'll be fine.:) Something fun might be to read aloud together--always a fun thing to do with a friend. No matter what you and Emma do, though, I know you will have a WONDERFUL time together!!!

Thanks for making us both post them today -- 'twas a good idea. ;-) (Haha, "for a better version of this post". Why must you say mine's better?)

Everyone else: THANK YOU SO MUCH for your comments! You're making it even more real for me. Y'all are so sweet. :-)

ONE THING TO DO?? Um . . . okay, here's a great idea: you guys should have fun dressing up together. Like, you know, fun clothes, necklaces etc. And then you should take a picture :)

  16. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know EXACTLY how you two are feeling right now!!!! I was able to met one of my bestest friends for the first time last May. The fact that she lived only 4 hours away was a plus!!

I think you two should sleep outside at least ONCE. The night skies are so gorgeous and June is a good month to do it in.

This was quite emotional for me, because I have many friends spread troughout the Scandinavia, and in the U.S too. And sometimes I just miss them soooo bad... ;((. So I'M REALLY HAPPY FOR YOU GUYS THAT YOU GET TO MEET EACHOTHER!!! Have fun, (watch movies) talk, and get to know eachother even better! :) I'll pray you get a lovely and blessed trip Naomi!

  23. This.... THIS.... *shrieks* THIS IS THE BEST THING I COULD EVER WISH FOR YOU TWO AND YOU BOTH DESERVE IT AND I'M SO EXCITED AND SURPRISED AND HAPPY AND SQUEALY AND I SERIOUSLY CAN'T STOP WITH THE CAP LOCKS!!!!!!!!!!! I read this in the morning, and for the rest of the day, I was telling all my family members about it, haha (sorry, dear, but I HAD TO TELL SOMEBODY!) and was singing all these happy songs... I think I say "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes" about 10 times over....

But honestly, this is making me feel like crying and laughing. I was trembling when I read it (with excitement - always happens when I'm REALLY excited about something!) and basically, I feel a lot like I did when I saw Les Mis live, haha. ;P I am just SSOOO HAPPY AND EXCITED FOR YOU!!!!!! I'm gonna be having lots of daydreams about this, haha. :D If you ever need to let out some squeals, I'll be MOST happy to squeal with you!!! :D

So! Now that I've got that out of my system (well, maybe like, 1/3 of it) I shall TRY to be more serious and less... squealy. ;)

This is your first plane trip? I've never been on a plane either. :D It'll be SO exciting for you!!! Oh my gosh, I just like to imagine what it'd be like - put myself in your shoes - I don't think I'd be able to wipe the smile off my face for the entire flight! Although, it WOULD be slightly freaky, flying in the AIR with STRANGERS. :P

God is SO amazing! He let this all come about!! It's funny, with other people who I know of that have had these kinds of experience, they say the same thing - it just kind of 'came about'! :) God just makes it happen, and He's so kind!!!

So, I just have to add that it's kind of ridiculous that you tell us to give you ONE thing you should do together. Well, you can both sit on Emma's desk, since you're always saying you want to do that. ;P You have to write LOTS of blog posts together!! Hehe. :D But as for a 'different' idea, mine would be this: for both of you to make dinner together, for the whole family. It sounds like a job, but honestly, I think it would be SO much fun!! (I always think of all these movies where two friends cook in the kitchen and have fun... like a scene in Leap Year, or Fried Green Tomatoes...) Besides, Anne and Diana did that too, didn't they?! ;D (When that famous authoress was SUPPOSED to visit them.)

Okay, so I guess I should end my comment now. But first let me just say WHAT THIS IS THE CRAZIEST MOST EXCITING THING EVER I REMEMBER YOU SAYING YOU JUST KNEW YOU'D SEE EACH OTHER THIS YEAR AND I HAD THIS GUT FEELING THAT 2016 WAS GOING TO BE A GOOD YEAR!!!!!!!!!

  26. Okay, I missed the part in Emma Jane's post about three weeks. THREE WEEKS!!! That makes it even more awesome. I've never spent more than about 5 days at one time in the presence of my best friend (whom I met on the internet), though if you total up all the time we've spent together over the past 10 years it's like... a month. Wow, you will be able to have some serious adventures!

  29. I have been reading your’s and Emma’s blogs for six months now, but I’ve only just plucked up enough courage to actually comment on it! I read Wonderland Creek and A Lantern in Her Hand regularly now - I really like your style of writing and it often brightens my day to find a new post!
I am really pleased for you and Emma! Reading the two blogs, I slowly became aware of your wonderful friendship and it is nice to know you will be able to actually meet soon.
I have a suggestion of something to do in June. How about you write a letter together (maybe to your family, or even to yourself for when you return) seal it with wax (you mentioned in a post that Emma seals letters to you) and then post it on a warm, moonlit evening and fulfill Emma’s wish! - I remembered Emma wrote back in January: “yesterday I imagined myself walking barefoot out to the mailbox at night to post a letter on a warm summer's evening, under the light of the moon. This may have been inspired by a scene in Buttermilk Sky”. Of course, that might be impossible as I’ve no idea how far it is to the nearest mailbox!
I hope you don’t mind me suggesting something despite me not really being part of the ‘blogging community’ (and being a little late for this post!)

I AM SO INCREDIBLY SPLENDIFEROUSLY THRILLED FOR YOU TWO OH MY WORD I CAN'T.

Like each make a scrapbook of your time together and exchange them at the end of the time? Or have a bookmark/card-making party? I dunno :)
