A Short post on 2016

LOOK WHAT EMMA GOT ME FOR CHRISTMAS.: :-O

Many people are saying that 2016 was a terrible year and true, sad things happened. There were terrorist attacks right in my country as well as others, there was the huge deal about Brexit, and then all the conundrum with the American elections. Also, Harper Lee and Alan Rickman died, as well as many famous people I never knew before. Also, Downton Abbey is finished. Let us all cry together.

But for me, it's been such a good year and I am so, so thankful for it.

I am thankful for 2016. It was a year of exploration, new experiences, many firsts, and many memories. I flew in a plane for the first time in my recollection; travelled on my own; walked on American ground; met Emma face to face and hung out with her and her folks for three whole weeks. I had a paid job for the first time; I saw the Alps for the first time and swam in the Mediterranean Sea for the first time. I had singing lessons and I saw Amish people. I tried makeup and discovered how not to be too awkward by embracing it with confidence. I watched Downton Abbey Season Two twice and watched all of Call the Midwife with Mama and my sister. I cut my hair in a bob and sang O Holy Night at the Christmas Carol Service. I read the Bible more and made new friends and listened to more country music than I ever imagined I could listen to. Best of all, I got to know God better and it's been wonderful.

It's been a very good year for me, personally, and I am so thankful for it. Here's to 2017; the new chapter; the newest year under the sun. I plan to fill it well!

  2. You're right . . . we have a lot to be thankful for.

We just lost Carrie Fisher, though. Today. Star Wars will never be the same without Princess Leia. I don't know why this year had to be so tough :-(

    1. We HAVE.

Is Carrie Fisher Debbie Reynolds' daughter? I have no idea who she is, so I'm not that sad about it, but I'm sorry, for you. :-(

    2. Yeah, she's Debbie Reynold's daughter, and she played Princess Leia in four Star Wars movies. She was amazing. I'm going to miss her, very much.

  3. Well well, you can cross that off your bucket list, you lucky lass.:) (Also, nice nail polish.)

I know, what a year. So much terror and sadness. It's so important to remember God is in charge--but it can be so hard to really believe. I'm glad you had a good one though! And singing lessons are the best.

I hope you're having a lovely time with your sweet family and watching The Happiest Millionaire!;)

Also, finding and keeping up with your blog really contributed to brightening my year, Naomi.<3

  10. That's such a cute camera. And honestly, I love pictures of cameras in general because they are so paradoxical.

I'm glad you had such a good year. 2016 was kinda a bad year for me, but like you, I'm glad it happened, even the not-so-great stuff.

You've been a huge inspiration to me this year, especially through those not-so-great parts, so thanks for being one of the nicest highlights of my 2016. I hope you have a wonderful new year.

  12. Im so glad you had a great year :) I loved reading this because there is way too much negativity going around with 2016 ending so it was really great to read about someone who had a great 2016.
    I hope 2017 is even better <3

  13. What, you're not doing your annual tag?! :O ;)

And you DID buy your red nail polish! Classy. ;D I wore red nail polish, too, the week before Christmas (I borrowed that from one of my sisters, hehe ;)) and during the Christmas weekend I wore a gold sparkle one. That was fun.

And you got a polaroid camera! #jealous :O (Psst! I got a camera too. ;))

For me, personally, 2016 was a good year! (Despite what Blimey Cow says. ;P) (No, they were very true about other than the characters being slightly undeveloped, Rogue One WAS pretty good movie, haha. I saw it twice in 3 days. Hush.) It wasn't free of hardships, and there certainly was some unexpected problems, but it made me grow, and I learnt a good deal of things. I also had my fair share of adventure and fun. :) Yeah, 2016 was a good year.

    *raises glass* Here's to 2017!

    ~Miss Meg

P.S. I still can't believe you got to meet Emma this year. ;D
