First post

Hello my dear readers!!
There is something awkward about writing your first post. You want to write about everything at once, but then you know you can't. Eeek! I'm so nervous about writing my first post!!

A randomly nice picture

Anyway, I do know I should start by introducing myself briefly. My name is Naomi Bennet, I am fifteen years of age, a Christian in a big home-schooling family. I have started this blog in order to talk about my hobbies- that is Period Drama. I hope you shall visit often and leave a comment!

I like random pictures- hadn't you noticed?
My favourite movie is Pride and Prejudice 1995.  You should know this if you want to know me. Not surprisingly, Elizabeth Bennet is my favourite literary heroine. I also love the movies Emma, Wives and Daughters, Downton Abbey (I'm in the middle of watching series four now!), Cranford, Sense and Sensibility, Anne of Green Gables and so many more!

Here ends my first post. I'm sorry for the poor length of it, but - as I said- I think writing one's first post is so awkward. But ye need not fret, for I shall come back and write again soon!

Were you nervous in writing your first post?

  1. Lovely blog, Naomi!!! And that was an excellent first post. ;-) No, I wouldn't say I was nervous when writing mine, just kind of like, "Oh dear, it better be good or nobody will ever, ever come by again!" :-)

Looking forward to reading more posts!

    Your soon-to-be-follower,
    ~Heidi :-)

Your very first post! This is so exciting! Yes, I was nervous when I wrote my first post too. I had no idea what to write, because there was so much I wanted to say and I didn't know how to say it all. But you've done very well, my dear! This is a momentous occasion indeed!! You are going to be such a good blogger, I just know it! :-)

Your blog looks so lovely! I love your header and background. It looks WAY nicer than mine did when I first made it, trust me. :-P

I have a question-- who are the two young ladies in the bottom left corner on your header? I don't recognize them.

If I remember about the blogger profile, I will definitely let you know. It's probably much easier than we think, and I'm sure you'll figure it out soon.

I can't wait to read more! And I'm so happy for you!!!

P.S. I am Marianne Dashwood too! But you knew that. :-P

  3. Hi Naomi!!
Are you the same Naomi that has commented on my blog? I think you are because you've followed me! Thank you! You're my 20th follower! :D
I'm really excited about your blog!
~Natalie from Raindrops on Roses and Whiskers on Kittens

  4. Hi, Naomi! I'm so glad you started a blog! It's sooo pretty! I look forward to reading your posts.:)

  5. Thanks for replying everyone!

Heidi, thanks!! Yes I thought that as well! Thanks for becoming a follower when you do!

Emma, thank you my dear! The lady on the left is just a randomly nice picture I found ;)
And the other lady is someone in the series four Downton Abbey Christmas special! Believe it or not! I don't know if she's an important character or not.
Yes, I knew you were Marianne Dashwood as well ;-)

Nathalie, yes I am that same Naomi! Thank you for visiting!

Sadie, thanks! Yes, I'm happy with how my blog turned out too.

  6. Hello Naomi,
What a simply splendid first post well done! :)
Mine needs tweeking but will be done shortly

  7. I didn't know you were a Marianne, Naomi! I am as well. :) (I caught this post because it's in your sidebar as a popular one this week, & I wondered what you'd written in your first post.) :-)

  8. Jillian, yup I am. Although I have a painfully practical side about me too. :-)
You know, I have NO idea why my first post came up in the popular ones these last weeks! I'm a bit embarrassed, because I think my first posts are rather... childish, is a word I could use. :-P
I hope everything is fine with you! I followed your new blog... it looks lovely. :-)

  9. Ha! I am embarrassed by my old posts too! Maybe someone has one of the images up on Pinterest? That would probably explain the traffic.

Thanks for the kind words! Everything is okay for this year. I'm not sure what will happen after that (it will be TIGHT), but this year seems doable.

I get to read Jane Eyre again for a lit class! Third read! Which is excellent. & also A Room of One's Own. :)

I watched The Testament of Youth because of your post (sigh!), and then I went to the library and NO ONE IN MY COUNTY has a copy of the book! NO ONE. So I prepared a stern lecture for the librarian about not having a classic female author in the system, but she sent me to the reference desk before I could recite it. So I went to the reference desk, and there was a sign saying to go to the children's department to get reference help. That was across the building. By the time I got to the children's department, I'd run out of steam & only meekly requested a copy through Interlibrary loan.

They nearly missed a good lecture! :P

  10. Jillian, I'm glad you have found courage for this year. :-) Just take one day at a time, and don't give up! :)

Ohh! I love Jane Eyre. It's the kind of book I can't reread enough. Gone with the Wind is too, I assure you. :-)

YOU SAW Testament of Youth!!!! I'm so glad. It's good, right?!! :-) What a pity you can't find a copy! Sigh, it's so annoying when you can't 'find' copies of books, isn't it. I guess I was lucky to coincidentally stumble across a copy at my Grandparents house. It's very good. :-)

    ~ Naomi

PS I noticed you made your blog private. Is there any way you might give me permission to visit it?

  11. Hahaha, my comment is so awkwardly polite and funny. :P Hard to believe we hardly knew each other then! :D

Your "first post" is waaay better than my first post, Naomi. (If you could even call mine a post!) If it makes you feel any better, here's a link:

At least your post had pictures!!

Spam comments are lame. I got SO many of them I had to disable Anonymous comments. (Sorry nice Anonymites)

Anyway. Other comments = I LOVE YOU. :-)
